چکیده

The environmental sustainability of beef production is a significant concern within the food system. Tannins (TANs) can be used to minimize impact ruminant because they improve ruminal fermentation and ruminants’ lifetime performances mitigate methane (CH4) emissions. objective this study was evaluate effects dietary supplementation with TANs as sustainable natural alternative reduce on growth performance, rumen fermentation, enteric CH4 emissions, nitrogen (N) use efficiency cattle through meta-analysis. A comprehensive search studies published in scientific journals that investigated TANs’ variables interest performed using Scopus, Web Science, PubMed databases. data analyzed were extracted from 32 peer-reviewed publications. assessed random-effects statistical models examine standardized mean difference (SMD) between treatments control (non-TANs). heterogeneity explored by meta-regression subgroup analysis for covariates significant. did not affect weight gain, feed consumption, efficiency, or N (p > 0.05). However, it reduced concentration ammonia (SMD = −0.508, p < 0.001), emissions per day −0.474, 0.01) unit dry matter intake −0.408, 0.01), urinary excretion −0.338, 0.05), digestibility −0.589, 0.001). Ruminal propionate 0.250) butyrate 0.198) concentrations fecal 0.860) improved response In conclusion, possible mitigation strategy without affecting rate. addition, shift may beneficial environment preservation, induces more harmful than N. Therefore, addition tannins diet could production.

Effects of Plant Herb Combination Supplementation on Rumen Fermentation and Nutrient Digestibility in Beef Cattle

Four rumen-fistulated crossbred beef cattle (Brahman native) were randomly assigned according to a 4×4 Latin square design experiment to be fed plant herb supplements in their concentrate mixture. The treatments were: without herb supplementation (Control), lemongrass meal supplementation at 100 g/d (L), lemongrass meal supplementation at 100 g/d plus peppermint powder at 10 g/d (LP), and lemon...

Effect of DL-malic acid supplementation on feed intake, methane emission, and rumen fermentation in beef cattle.

The objective of this study was to determine the effect of dietary concentration of dl-malic acid (MA) on DMI, CH(4) emission, and rumen fermentation in beef cattle. Two Latin square experiments were conducted. In Exp. 1, six beef heifers (19 +/- 1 mo old) were assigned in a duplicated Latin square to 1 of 3 dietary concentrations of MA on a DMI basis (0%, MA-0; 3.75%, MA-3.75; or 7.5%, MA-7.5)...

Prediction of enteric methane emissions from cattle.

Agriculture has a key role in food production worldwide and it is a major component of the gross domestic product of several countries. Livestock production is essential for the generation of high quality protein foods and the delivery of foods in regions where animal products are the main food source. Environmental impacts of livestock production have been examined for decades, but recently em...

Methane emissions, body composition, and rumen fermentation traits of beef heifers differing in residual feed intake.

This study examined the relationship of residual feed intake (RFI) and performance with methane emissions, rumen fermentation, and digestion in beef heifers. Individual DMI and growth performance were measured for 22 Simmental heifers (mean initial BW 449 kg, SD = 46.2 kg) offered grass silage ad libitum for 120 d. Ultrasonically scanned muscle and fat depth, BCS, muscularity score, skeletal me...

Effects of Three Feeding Systems on Production Performance, Rumen Fermentation and Rumen Digesta Particle Structure of Beef Cattle.

The effects of three different feeding systems on beef cattle production performance, rumen fermentation, and rumen digesta particle structure were investigated by using 18 Limousin (steers) with a similar body weight (575±10 kg) in a 80-d experiment. The animals were equally and randomly divided into three treatment groups, namely, total mixed ration group (cattle fed TMR), SI1 group (cattle f...
